Gerry Slevin
Treasurer
CAPT Gerry Slevin (USN, Ret.) serves as the Treasurer of AFCEA Central Florida and hails from Spalding, Nebraska. Beginning his journey in 1975, Gerry joined the United States Navy as a Radioman. Throughout his career, he served at numerous overseas duty stations, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer on October 16, 1983. His dedication led to his selection as a Limited Duty Officer specializing in Communications and his commissioning as an Ensign in 1985.
During his tenure as an officer, Gerry held various command roles, served on ships, afloat and ashore staffs, and contributed to two Joint Combatant Commands. Notably, Gerry joined the Order of the Silver Eagle and Horseshoe as the Senior Limited Duty Officer in the Navy aboard the USS Carl Vinson on September 24, 2012. Gerry retired from active duty on September 30, 2013, while assigned to USSOCOM, accumulating over 38 years of service.
Post-military retirement, Gerry served as a Liaison Officer for Commander 5th Fleet/Commander Naval Forces Central Command on the Staff of US Central Command, providing expertise in US Navy/Middle East C4I matters. He also lent his insights as a subject matter expert for Defense Information Systems Agency matters.
A dedicated member of AFCEA, Gerry is a Life Member, having served twice as chapter president before assuming the role of Treasurer for the AFCEA Central Florida Chapter. In recognition of his leadership, he received the AFCEA Leadership Award in 2015. Additionally, Gerry is affiliated with esteemed organizations such as the Army Signal Corps – Bronze Order of Mercury, Military Officers Association of America, American Legion, and the Fleet Reserve Association.
